​Luck of the Draw

It has been said that LUCK OF THE DRAW was on this earth before the world evolved into Technicolor. There were no i-tunes or digitally-recorded, computer assisted, algorithmic, midi-sequencer-synthesized music. There was, and still is, Dave Secord and LUCK OF THE DRAW.

 

The LUCK OF THE DRAW band has been popular on the Olympic Peninsula since the dawn of time. Over thirty years ago, LUCK OF THE DRAW entertained everyone who attended the first annual Joyce Daze Blackberry Festival, and has delighted the audiences every year since, with crowd-pleasing, toe-tapping tunes from rock and roll to bluegrass and old time favorites.

 

When musician and performer Roy Clark, best known for co-hosting the 70’s hit TV show, Hee Haw, came to Port Angeles, LUCK OF THE DRAW opened the show. In 2012 former members of the Steppenwolf Band, “Magic Carpet Ride”, asked LUCK OF THE DRAW to warm up the audience for their performance.

 

Along with the ever-popular “tater-bug” mandolin, Dave Secord sings and plays the strum-stick, banjo, lead guitar, and harmonica. Known for joking and jesting with the audience, he mixes it up playing audience requests, crowd favorites and good old-fashioned fun time music. Along with his wife Rosalie on rhythm guitar, mandolin and vocals, Ken Emerson bass, and Dennis Schosboek, fiddle.
